MOST BACK PAIN SUFFERERS ADD TO THE AGONY BY IGNORING GP ADVICE

Two-thirds of sufferers who visit their GP apparently do not follow the advice given or do not do the exercises recommended.
So millions of people are ­risking needlessly living in agony ­simply because they are not doing what they are told, ­according to the survey for back care device makers bac<.
Pain is not all sufferers have to put up with.
Some 14 per cent of those polled have to give up sex when back pain strikes.
Sufferers also admitted the pain affected their relationships with children, family, friends and colleagues at work.

Back pain is proving to be a real passion killer in millions of bedrooms throughout the UK as sufferers cope by slapping a ‘no-sex’ embargo on their partners.
A recent survey of 2,056 people by back pain specialist bac< to co-incide with the launch of its new range of back care products has revealed that 14 per cent of adults – around 6.8 million people – have stopped having sex due to the debilitating effects of back pain.

搭巴士瞌眼瞓CHOK到頸椎錯位

香港人工時長、睡眠不足,經常會在巴士、地鐵等交通工具上睡着,有脊醫表示,在巴士睡覺容易挫傷脊椎,輕則拉傷肌肉,嚴重者可致頸椎錯位或椎間盤突出,部分人剛拉傷時只是輕微疼痛,但繼續以不正確姿勢工作,幾日後病情或會突然「爆煲」。
未必即時劇痛 數日後才爆發
搭車返工和放工因倦極而睡着,情況很普遍,不過這樣做很易受傷。不時有患者是因為在巴士上睡着,因車廂搖晃而「chok」到頸椎,約佔診所患者總數一成,「患者由10幾歲到50歲都有,有上班族和學生,因為香港人太累了,經常在車上睡着,尤其是長途車就更易睡着,而巴士常要停站,一旦睡着就很易『chok』到。」
一旦在巴士上挫傷,輕則會拉傷肌肉,但亦可能導致嚴重問題,未必會即刻顯露出來。他說:「有些患者拉傷後只感到有一點痛,但過了幾日至一星期後,疼痛會加劇,亦可能出現手麻痹、頭痛等,可能是頸椎錯位或椎間盤突出,壓到神經綫而疼痛萬分,甚至會影響正常生活。」
工作坐姿差 加劇病情
患者多數是平時的讀書或工作姿勢不佳,拉傷後繼續使用錯誤姿勢,令病情進一步累積,「傷勢」在數日後才「爆煲」。曾治療一名21歲男患者,平時要長期用電腦工作,但坐姿不正確,又長期捱夜,每日從粉嶺搭巴士到尖沙咀上班,經常在車睡着,一次因巴士煞車令他「chok」到,當時只有少許疼痛,故未有理會,幾日後出現頭痛、手麻痹等才去求診,發現是頸椎錯位,要治療兩周才恢復。
另外,有些打工仔會趁午飯後或加班時趴在辦公桌上小休,王漢榮說,多數人趴在桌上時,頭會側往一邊,令頸椎受
壓,容易錯位,而前傾姿勢亦會令腰椎受壓,有機會令腰椎錯位及椎間盤突出。
即使是放工回到家中,部分人或會在梳化上睡着,王指,梳化無法妥當地承托頸部和腰部,除了令人腰痠背痛,更有機會導致盤骨錯位、椎間盤突出等,建議市民應到床上才睡覺。
